Well, for my first "36 in 365" project, I decided to kick it off with a bang. Well, for me, at least... I decided that for the first time, I would donate blood. Now, I'm a HUGE fan of all medical shows: Grey's Anatomy, Private Practice, House, ER... I've been in the OR watching open heart surgery, two feet away from the open chest. I've watched a C-section, a normal birth, and countless other medical procedures in person. But somehow, the idea of a tube sucking blood out of my own arm really freaks me out. I decided that for the "36 in 365" though, I would suck it up and help save someone's life.
The Blood Assurance bloodmobiles were conveniently here on SAU's campus on Feb.1, the "36 in 365" kick off day, so I walked over after class. I wasn't sure if I was eligible to donate blood, seeing that I was in the Philippines less than a year ago, so I asked. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to donate, so my first project was a bust. However, I am eligible to donate at the end of March, so I WILL donate blood when I am able to... Just thought I would mention my attempt to start off with something new and important to me. Now to come up with something new!!!
